How to Handle a Broken Tooth

By | Dental Crowns, Dental Emergency, Dental Implants

Taking care of a broken or chipped tooth in Schenectady, NY, may be a bit overwhelming and terrifying, but the most important thing you can do is stay calm and try to improve the situation. If you need help taking care of the tooth, our Advanced Aesthetics Dentistry team is here for you! We encourage you to do the following things:

– Save the pieces: It’s best to save as many pieces of the tooth as possible so the dentist can try and restore the tooth. Then, rinse the mouth with warm salt water and wash the broken pieces. Do your best to keep the pieces in a safe place.

-Control the bleeding: Apply a piece of gauze pad to the injured area for about 10 minutes or until the bleeding stops.

-Reduce the swelling: Do your best to reduce the swelling by icing outside the area with an ice pack. This will also minimize the pain and give you some comfort.

-Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist as soon as possible. Also, please don’t forget to bring the pieces of your tooth with you when you come in for your emergency appointment.

For more information and details, please call [phone] today and talk to a member of our dental team! Please remember that the sooner you call us and schedule an emergency appointment, the sooner Dr. Roy Oyangen will be able to restore your oral health. We look forward to helping you!
