We fight gum disease with our periodontal treatment.

Gum Disease, more formally knowns as Periodontal Disease, is an infection in your gum tissue or gingiva. This infection is caused by bacteria building up around the gums. Your dentist may refer to it as plaque buildup.

Gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Since gingivitis is virtually pain-free, many people don’t even realize they are suffering from it. One key gum disease symptom is gums that bleed when you brush or floss.

We light the way to a better smile!

The two stages of gum disease:

Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease. At this point symptoms may include redness, swelling and even bleeding. Gingivitis is easily treatable and can be eliminated with good oral hygiene, brushing your teeth and flossing daily.

Periodontitis is the next stage of gum disease. As the plaque containing bacteria builds up around the teeth, toxins spread below the gum line forcing the gums to recede and let go of the teeth. This causes pockets to form between the teeth and gums. As theses pockets grow deeper, bacteria begin to destroy the bone that supports the teeth. These teeth will eventually become so loose they will need to be removed or extracted.

Our periodontal therapy techniques are leading edge.

At our dental office, hygienists will show you proper oral hygiene techniques to prevent this progressive disease. If you already exhibit later stages of gum disease they will suggest periodontal therapy. Therapy will include deep-cleanings, often with greater frequency.

In some cases, the dentist will utilize our CO2 Laser to sterilize the infected pockets. When used in conjunction with our periodontal therapy program, the CO2 Laser stimulates your body’s immune system, encouraging the growth of new bone. This new growth reduces the pocket’s depth around the gums.

Periodontal disease has been linked to a variety of other health concerns.
